I research and apply artificial intelligence (AI) to medical imaging and public health. I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Radiology at the University of Ottawa, an Adjunct Assistant Professor in Systems Design Engineering at the University of Waterloo and an Associate Scientist at the Ottawa Hospital.

My research interests include: optimal and explainable performance measures, explainable and equitable AI, causality in medical AI, understanding deep and shallow learning, data set quality in image processing, and the application of AI to health care for diseases and complications of the brain, liver, uterus, lungs, breast and heart. I also help with virtual reality in our lab.

I supervise several students, so please contact me if you are interested.

I have a Ph.D and B.A.Sc in Systems Design Engineering (Waterloo), an M.Math in Computer Science (Waterloo), and I completed postdoctoral fellowships at the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute and the University of Waterloo.
